Who are MMAP Counselors?
MMAP (pronounced “map”) is a free counseling service for Medicare and/or Medicaid beneficiaries and their caregivers. MMAP services are provided by trained and certified counselors.
Who are MMAP Counselors?
- AAANM staff members or volunteers who receive specialized training in the rules and regulations regarding Medicare, Medicaid and other related insurance products.
- Not associated with any health insurance company therefore providing you with unbiased information and assistance.
- Serve and advocate in an objective and confidential manner.
A MMAP Counselor can help you:
- Understand Medicaid eligibility, enrollment, products, coverage, claims and appeals.
- Review your Medicare supplemental (“Medigap”) insurance needs and pursue claims and refunds.
- Explain and compare Medicare Health and Medicare Prescription Drug Plans.
- Identify resources for prescription drug assistance.
- Determine eligibility and help you enroll in Medicare Savings Programs.
- Understand doctor bills, hospital bills, and Medicare Summary Notices.
- Explore long term care financing options – including long term care insurance.
- Report Medicare fraud and abuse.
