Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP)

The goal of SCSEP is to foster economic self-sufficiency and increase your potential for employment in the public and private sectors.  If you are eligible for SCSEP, you will be placed at community work sites and employed for an average of 15-20 hours per week in order to gain work experience, increase skills and build references.

To be eligible for the program you must be:

  • 55+ years old.
  • 125% of poverty income or less.
  • Unemployed.
  • Have barriers to obtaining employment.

To enroll in the program:

  • Call AAANM at 1-800-442-1713 and ask for the Senior Employment Program.
  • You will be asked some questions in order to determine if you are eligible for an intake assessment.
  • At the intake assessment you will be asked to share information on your skills, experience and employment interests.
  • Together with the SCSEP Counselor, you will develop an individual plan for employment and training.  You may be given assistance with resume development and interviewing techniques.

SCSEP is funded through Title V of the Older Americans Act and is a program administered through the U.S. Department of Labor and administered

by the Michigan Office of Services to the Aging (OSA).
