Elder Abuse Awareness

Elder Abuse Prevention

The Elder Abuse Coalition works to increase the awareness and understanding of elder abuse, neglect and exploitation in our local communities.  The Coalition is coordinated by our local Long Term Care Ombudsman.

The Elder Abuse Coalition is comprised of  northwest Michigan aging partners including Legal Services, Departments of Human Services, Women’s’ Resource Center, Catholic Human Services, Community Services Network and other interested individuals.  They meet to:

  • Share knowledge and experience with current elder abuse issues.
  •  Identify training opportunities for professionals and the public about elder abuse, neglect and exploitation.
  • Advocate on elder abuse legislation.

If you believe an older adult to be the victim of abuse, neglect or exploitation, you can report your suspicions or concerns to the Vulnerable Adult Help Line 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at 1-855-444-3911.
